Hispanics are the new majority minority in Texas
It’s essential for us, as a Hispanic community, to demand more from our elected officials.
Latinos for America First founder Bianca Gracia issued the following statement:
The historic shift in Texas’ demographics, with Hispanics now forming the largest ethnic group in the state, presents an immense opportunity, not just for political engagement, but for the rediscovery of core conservative values that resonate deeply within the Hispanic community.
Hispanics in Texas, with their deep-rooted values of family, faith, and individual enterprise, align more closely with conservatism than they might realize. The conservative platform respects and champions these values, making it a natural home for Hispanic voters. Governor Greg Abbott’s reelection with 40% of the Latino vote in 2022 is a testament to this trend.
However, the left-wing narrative of voter suppression creates barriers in our minds and hearts. The true suppression comes from false narratives that discourage Hispanic voters, not from the voting rules. Our focus should be on strengthening civic education, understanding the democratic process, and encouraging active, informed participation.
It’s essential for us, as a Hispanic community, to demand more from our elected officials. We need representatives who champion our values and our economic strength. We’re not merely a demographic statistic, but a powerful and influential community that significantly contributes to Texas’ economic and social fabric.
